Taxi Hotline Numbers
By Lainey | April 2, 2007
There are several taxi companies that have hotline numbers:
| Company | Color | Hotline # | Da Zhong | Torquise | 6258-0000 |
| QiangSheng | Yellow | 6258-0000 |
| Bashi | Light Green | 6431-2788 |
| Jinjiang | White | 62758800 |
When you call, the agent will ask you to provide location address. Don’t worry, the agents are able to speak enough English to entertain your call. They will also retain your address for future purposes without you having to instruct them. Note however, that this hotline service represents a 4 RMB surcharge (which was again only implemented in June 2006).
There are times when it is extra difficult to call and reserve a taxi. If you want to take a taxi to dinner on Friday and Saturday night, say anytime between 7-9PM, it will take you at least 15-30 minutes. Note: Friday is worse than Saturday. As such, it is best to call 1 or 2 hours in advance on these peak hours. It is even more difficult to get a cab when it is raining. So if you are going someplace important and the weather forecast shows it will rain, be sure to call a cab in advance.
Also, remember to call a taxi in advance if you need to go to the airport. There was this one time that we needed to go to the airport to go to Beijing, on a rainy Friday! This triple whammy almost made us miss our flight.
